Last year the spine-tingling Singaporean rock band Stellastory triumphantly decided to strum to a healthier beat and joined forces with HPB to write two inspiring, life changing rock tunes for the well-respected ‘Live It Up’ movement.
Since the middle of last year, 2010, the guys have embarked on a new journey by crossing the hard-fought battle line of the addictive, smelly and toxic temptations of cigarettes to stub out their bad habit. But, they have taken it one step further and utilised their musical talent to help others embrace a new healthier lifestyle.
Although their quit journey has not been easy, the constant support they receive from one another keeps them focused and determined to be tobacco-free. Their unity and strength is true testament of their friendship, as mentioned by their lead guitarist, Hwang: “I feel much fitter and better about myself these days, and it has had a really positive effect on the band.”
Out with the cigs
What gave them the will-power to want to quit and ‘Live It Up’ to a healthier lifestyle … you might ask?
Well, it all hit home when bad news hit Narpal, lead vocalist, when he heard that his uncle had been diagnosed with multiple organ failure due to his long-term smoking habit and other vices.
This loss inspired Narpal, and the band, to write and produce a song which expressed his emotions, and subsequently, motivated the group to embark on a quit journey – and in respect for their own bodies.
The following lyrics, written by Narpal, expresses his take on his uncle’s torment in having his friends and family watch him as he wilted away.

The story of Stellastory
Stellastory was formed in the early 2007 when the boys dreamt of becoming rock stars. Through the years, the lineup has changed much but the rock and roll in them remains the same. Today, they have combined their love for the classic rock sound with a modern twist, creating songs that many can relate to and yet retaining the old school vibe.
